The New York Game Awards 2023 has finally arrived, and, alongside honoring CEO of Microsoft Gaming as well as the head of Xbox Phil Spencer with the Andrew Yoon Legend Award, and the big show saw Elden Ring walk away by winning the Game of the Year along with the Best World awards, two strongest categories at the awards.
Also, the New York Video Game Critics Circle hosted the annual New York Game Awards tonight, on 17th January, where they honored the best games, journalists, actors, and esports athletes of 2022.
Moreover, Elden Ring was the only game to win numerous categories, meaning many games were given the spotlight they deserved, including Vampire Survivors, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, God of War Ragnarok, Immortality, and much more.
As it has been previously mentioned, Phil Spencer won the Andrew Yoon Legend Award, which is “presented by the New York Videogame Critics Circle and to recognize people and the organizations which have exhibited a significant body of work which displays exceptional artistic achievement and innovation.”
Reggie Fils-Aimé, former industry and the COO as well as the board member of NYVGCC, said, “Me and Phil have been a part of this industry for many years, and we have always admired his ability to find new, creative ways to serve gamers.” He further stated that “Phil is not just an executive in games, Phil knows exactly what people want when it comes to the Xbox brand.
