New trailer I found for it: Cannot wait for Fable 3, and despite the trailer only really showing everything in slow motion...I love Fable to bits.
I've lost interest in the series after the second Fable not being released on the computer (stupid move if you ask me). I haven't been following Fable III at all, but from watching that video, I think that I'll definitely keep it in mind as the release date approaches. The only thing that bugs me (and it's not about the game itself) is that the GameStop commercial has a big fat "Only for 360" sign in it. Granted that the computer version doesn't have a release date (that I know of), it's still pretty stupid to falsely advertise that it's a 360 exclusive.
So it released today in the US (not til friday here before you ask) Has anyone picked up this awesome game?
I plan on buying this for my friend, possibly. She really likes the Fable series. (As do I, but my laptop isn't exactly a gaming beast)
Getting it on Xbox on friday when it comes out, then its a toss up as to whether I need a pc copy too.....I mean I dont need one, but it is my all time favourite game series soooo...
Epic, I love it to bits. Really like the changes they've made, can see myself putting in a ton of hours
Enjoying my time with Fable 3, although I really hate the lack of menus. Having to constantly go back to the Sanctuary for EVERYTHING is starting to wear really thin on my patience. Things that were once very simple, such as changing equipment and clothing have become more complicated than is necessary because you can't just pause the game and scroll to the item you want to equip. You have to load the Sanctuary, walk to the armory, load the armory, walk to the weapon you want and finally select it. Buying and selling goods has also become more cumbersome. Also, it would've been nice to be allowed to choose which social expressions to use at what times. At first it was fine because my character would shake hands with everyone and that was a perfectly fine way to greet folk. However, now that I've purchased some new expressions, my character's primary form of saying "Hello." is to grab them by the waist and do the frickin' tango!! And it doesn't matter if it's a male or female, he will dance with anyone! I mean, yeah if I were at a ball this would be fine, but all I wanted to do was say "hi" to the local shopkeep. Instead I'm dancing with him and hoisting him in the air as a grand finale! What strange behavior for a king, right? There were certain changes that were huge improvements over the previous games. One thing that springs to mind is the World Map. It's SO convenient to be able to see entire towns on the map, with buildings, people, and all. And then on top of that you can now purchase shops and homes from the world map! Such a great improvement. It's a great game, but I really don't know if I like it as much as Fable 2. In my opinion, there were a lot of things that were changed that simply did not need changing.
Totally agree. Changing outfit is the biggest hassle known to man, I mean there are a ton of stupid steps. Tattoos and face paint is good, but just adds to the complications. Being only able to carry one item of food and one of drink? Whats that about, it just makes fooding up a massive hassle as well. And i agree on the greetings/emotions front too, its wayy too linear compared to the previous games
In really want to get this game but I'm torn between getting it for PC or 360. At the moment, I'm leaning towards getting it fo the 360 only to "complete my collection" so to say since I own Fable and Fable II on the 360 [and Xbox] I do own The Lost Chapters for the PC though. Has anybody played Fable III yet? How is it? Is it worth picking up?
I was in the same boat as you, eventually got it for 360 because like you i have them all on 360 and only lost chapters on pc, and I prefer the controller for Fable over a mouse. As a massive Fable fanboy, it's an awesome game. Story is good, combat is the usual (magic wins anything), locations are all good. The frustrations we've listed mostly up there, interacting with people isn't as free as Fable 2, and that for me is the real shame.
So my fiancée finished Fable 3's main story last night and the first words out of her mouth were, "I think I liked Fable 2 better." The more I progress in my game, the more I'm inclined to agree with her. Apart from the gorgeous graphics and a more engaging storyline, many of the problems that have plagued the series since the beginning are still present in Fable 3. In fact, a few new ones have sprung up thanks to the poorly conceived idea to remove menus almost entirely from the game. For a while, I was enjoying the new map system and I also liked having the ability to purchase and manage the shops and houses you own from the map screen. However, once you begin to own a large amount of property, it becomes a very tedious task to scroll around the map, selecting each building you own, one by one, in order to pay the upkeep costs. A simple menu here, listing all of the properties you own, and an option to "Repair All" would have easily solved this problem. It's a real shame that one of Fable 3's biggest drawing points ended up being its greatest flaw- the game has no menus! It adds so much complexity to a system that should be quick and thought-free. Then, on the other hand, things like the socializing aspect and skill building sections of the game have been extremely dumbed down. The Road to Rule sections were particularly annoying, I miss powering up my character the old fashioned way of using experience orbs to purchase the upgrades that suited my play style. I'm not as big a fan of Fable 3's method of lumping your experience into guild seals and using them to open treasure chests containing all of your expressions, combat upgrades, and even your job levels and ability to own property. There's no thought or customization involved in building your character at all! All you have to do is earn the guild seals, which is insanely easy, and then open chests until there are no more. The more I play Fable 3, the more I find myself wishing that it was just a little more like Fable 2. It just seems that for every one cool new idea they added to Fable 3, two other cool ideas were removed to compensate.
Sounds like it would be fun but after hearing more input about it, I think I will just wait for it to drop in price a little bit more or see if the PC version will be any cheaper. I know for a fact that Fable III on the PC will support Games for Windows LIVE so I could easily plug in a 360 controller to play that way and still earn achievements and interact online without having to pay for Gold. Also I am saddened to hear about the lack of experience. I dont like the idea of dumbing down games. I do wish Lionhead would've stuck with the concept of Fable II and build onto that. Fable II was such an amazing game. Granted it had a few issues.
